Aluminum(or aluminium) sport fishing boats.
At Conrad Yachts, we specialize in designing aluminum sport fishing boats and aluminum boat kits. Although
aluminum, or aluminium in some parts of the world, has been used for boat construction for a long time, it
has usually been associated with rather ugly work boats. We are trying hard to change that perception.
Aluminum( aluminium), is likely the best material for a sturdy planing powerboat hull. It will not suffer from
corrosion or osmosis blistering, and it will usually win in confrontation with floating debris.
Design for production.
Over the years, we have designed a number of boats for aluminum(aluminium)boat manufacturers. These
tend to be more complex, as they are designed to take advantage of processes and technologies available
for well equipped, specialized fabricating shops. The designs can be customized to the shop's capabilities.
Design for a single vessel builder.
With more time at his disposal, an amateur builder, with limited access to heavy machinery( like a break
press), might prefer weld-on flanges rather than press-break ones. We can customize the design to suite a
builder with limited shop capabilities( a good MIG welder is still a must ).
Custom design.
As well as a number of our own designs, developed over the last nine years, we offer custom marine design
services and naval architectural assistance, to individuals who would like to realize their own vision of a
perfect boat, but lack the necessary professional skills and tools to undertake the entire detailed design by
themselves. We will guide you through the whole process; from the napkin sketch to a crate of parts ready for
assembly.
Software.
For our 3D computer modeling, we are using MULTISURF - SURFACEWORKS( partner to SOLIDWORKS) -
the leading parametric marine design software, based on relational geometry.
For drafting and cut file detailing we use Microstation. A powerful tool on its own, it can also read and write
AutoCAD files.
Other materials.
Although we believe that aluminum is a great boat building material, we can also design for steel, FRP, or
wood.
The HYBRID.
We are actively pursuing the design of a hybrid boat, consisting of a virtually indestructible aluminum hull, and
an attractive molded FRP deck. A prototype is in construction. We believe there is future for this marriage of
two materials and technologies.
Kitboats.
Most of our designs can be provided either as a digital package, consisting of assembly drawings and the
use of the cutting files, or as a kit, consisting of assembly drawings and cut and formed parts.
The kit can be prepared for either an amateur assembly or large number production by a professional. Those
kits will differ in complexity. Please inquire on an individual basis.

- All plates of our boats are completely developable; there are no built in stresses.
- The need for lofting is eliminated.
- Building our boats is more boat assembly than boat building - all you need is good working
knowledge of fitting and welding aluminum. - Simple assembly drawings are provided as part of the kit.
- All our major hull structures components are designed and calculated to conform to the requirements
